Guest_3026 : I have lived here over 10 yrs and have never made it to a meeting. I am hoping to make it in September. Are there any grants or programs for our neighborhood for "beautification " or work/repairs on homes?
Guest_2550 : Just a reminder to keep your sidewalks clean ANd free of overgrown trees and bushes. There really are many people who use sidewalks and kids walking to school shouldn't have navigate hazrds while walking there.

Guest_645 : To the potential home buyer, I have lived here my whole life (38yrs), I love our neighborhood. Although I will have to admit we did go through a rough patch in the late 90"s early 00's the police have done a great job of curbing violence. I will agree with the above resondee that we still have a bit of a grafitti problem. For the most part the homes in our neighborhood a very well kept and clean, although may need some updating. Guest_1454 : Now that the warm weather is here, and everyone is out walking, please help keep our sidewalks clean. And if there's a vacant house on your block, you can "adopt" a sidewalk and keep it clean too. It just makes our neighborhoods look cleaner and friendlier- not to mention safer!

Holy Cross School : Early registration is now open until May 1, 2010 for the 2010-2011 school year. Early registrations are $100.00 per child. All obligations must be up to date for current families. This is a significant opportunity to save some money on the best and safest education value in NE KC. Come and visit Holy Cross and explore the educational opportunities that await your child at our school.
Guest_2407 : This is the potential home buyer. I will have to come down and explore the area. My main concern is crime and pollution. I like that many of the houses down there have have the original woodwork and stained glass.
Guest_3640 : To the potential buyer: I lived in Indian Mound for more than 20 years and I would say the biggest problem here that's been a constant is trash and graffiti. Some areas look bad, but most are quite good and yes, some of us do have 'restored" homes!

Guest_3425 : The unusual color schemes that you're now seeing is in part due to the numbers of Hispanics that have moved in the area. The bright colors are very typical of their homeland. Nevertheless, it does detract from those of us who are attamping to stay within an historic paint scheme.
Guest_2017 : In response to Guest 1748, I will have to agree that I don't care for the gaudy color schemes that are appearing. I am not sure what can be done but it is definitely worth discussing. I suggest you come to one of our Indian Mound Association meetings where we can gather others thoughts on this issue. Our next meeting is Monday, September 21, 6:30 pm at NE library. We are not affiliated with ONE (Old Northeast, Inc.).

Guest_1748 : I live in Indian Mound, However I'm concerned about an issue that affects the entilre ONE area, and that is the loud and outrageious colors and colorchemes that are showing up in our area. Our neighborhood is beginning to look like a circus rather than a respectable neighborhood. I believe it is in the best interest of Old Northeast to put a stop to what is becoming the norm here and restore the dignity of a once fine neighborhood1
Holy Cross School : We are currently accepting applications for new students for the 2009-2010 school year. Come and visit us and explore the quality educational opportunities that await your child at Holy Cross School. The school is located at 121 N. Quincy
Rick Jones : The block meetingfor the 100 block of N, Van Brunt was held 4/2 at Holy Cross School. Indian Mound Board was present as were police. A lot of positives came from this meeting. We have lots of new neighbors on our block. It is exciting to see the level of involvement.
Guest_4652 : Happy 2009! The random gunfire of revelers has been going on for the past hour. I wish those who chose to celebrate the new year by shootin off their firearms would be more considerate of those living around them. How would they like to have thir small children woken up with the sound of gunshots going off all around them? Not only scary but dangerous!

Guest_3165 : A comment about local murals- I do like the mural at the library, a nice touch very colorful and a good response to constant graffiti. But, I think we need to draw the line as far as to how many murals are within the neighborhood- maybe there is such a thing as too many?
Guest_2940 : Saturday Movie night in Budd Park was great. The weather perfect, the grass freshly mowed, and the crowd doubled in size once again. One more Saturday to go and one individual said they wished the movie nights were all summer! Pat Hulse
Guest_4259 : Greetings, This is Jeremy McConnell and I am the Director of The Hip Hop Academy here in K.C. Mo. I live in the Indian Mound neighborhood and am working on a proposed mural along with several other artists to do a mural at St. John Market. The wall there gets tagged by Gangs weekly and I believe if we out a full color Mural there it will survive longer than a blank wall. We recently painted the Northeast Library Wall and have done several murals with youth on the Westside
